A few weeks ago we went away as a family to Denmark and Albany.? I NEEDED a holiday.? Especially just with the girls and Mr Natural Newborn.? I was desperate to spend time with them and the week away was so good for recharging the batteries.
We are planning on moving to Albany soon so it was also a great opportunity to check out the area, schools, houses etc.? I even tried out the local chiro because I managed to hurt my back lifting Ruby off a donkey!
The trip down was a little adventure.? We packed lots of snacks and went the loooooong way stopping in Donnybrook and had a play at the Apple Park, went to Tinderbox at Balingup and then visited a friend at Bridgetown.? We eventually ended up at our home away from home at Misty Valley Country Cottages in Denmark.? It is a lovely farm stay in a great spot run by a gorgeous farmer and his wife.? Warren, the farmer, is completely blind which was a great learning experience for the girls.? He was amazing and knew every inch of his farm.? We tried to explain to Ruby about how he couldn?t see and was completely blind (she suggested we tell him about the glasses that Daddy wears!) but even after 3 days she still ran up to him in the morning and said ?look at my piggy tails?!? Warren would just smile and say ?yes Ruby they are very pretty?!? He was incredibly patient.
Every morning at the farm we would meet up with Warren and the girls would do some farm work for an hour.? Emma loved it so much she wished she could do it all day!
While in Denmark we visited Greens Pool, went berry picking at the Denmark Berry Farm (best berry ice cream!), had lunch at a brewery, went to a chocolate factory, went to an outdoor movie (Up!) at a local winery and had a swim at Ocean Beach.
I really love Denmark.? My family is from there and it is where Mr Natural Newborn and I had our honeymoon 13 years ago.? It is a beautiful spot so if you ever find yourself in WA make sure you check it out!? Next post?Albany
