You must:
- Identify as being on the Autism Spectrum, including Autistic Disorder, Asperger?s Syndrome or PDD-NOS
- Be a current student at a college or university with at least one year left to graduation
- Live in one of the 50 states or the District of Columbia
Applicants should have a strong interest in civil rights activism for people with disabilities. They should also have personal goals to increase their own self-advocacy and leadership skills.
Those selected will travel to Washington, DC for an advocacy training during June 9-15, 2013. They will attend Autistic Self Advocacy Network?s Autism Campus Inclusion (ACI) project during this time. Participants will receive housing, a stipend for meals and all costs related to travel.
The skills participants learn can be taken back to their home college campuses. They will develop goals to affect change on their campuses and communities. These goals will benefit autistic college students and other students with disabilities.
