Marion County Firefighter's Take to the Stairs for National Leukemia ...

Salem, Ore. ? In preparation for the 22nd Annual Scott(R) Firefighter Stairclimb in Seattle, the Firefighter Stairclimb Team for Marion County Fire District No. 1 will partner with Dutch Bros. Coffee to conduct a fundraising event on Saturday, February 9th, 2013 from 10:00am to 4:00pm at their Lancaster facility located at 810 Lancaster Drive SE, in Salem, Oregon.

This year?s stairclimb event expects to host over 1,500 firefighters from over 200 different agencies across the United States.? During the Stairclimb on March 10th in Seattle, firefighters will climb the 69 floors and 1,311 steps of the Columbia Center Tower, a downtown Seattle high-rise, while wearing full firefighting gear.? This will be the fifth consecutive year that MCFD1 has participated in the Scott(R) Firefighter Stairclimb.

To prepare for this daunting task, members of the MCFD1 team will be getting on a stairclimb machines on Saturday, wearing their full firefighting ensemble, strengthening their legs, backs and mental stamina in anticipation of this creative and fun show of support for the event.

This nationally recognized fire service fundraising event dedicates all proceeds to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.? All monies raised here, and at the Seattle event, go directly to furthered Leukemia and Lymphoma research as well as to improve the quality of life for individuals with blood cancers.
